 A breakthrough photo of a pair of Bald Eagles perched shoulder to shoulder in an intimate posture was the icing on the cake for another eventful birding trip to Minnesota lakes country.  As if checking out the 3 guys floating in a pontoon below, a graceful Trumpeter Swan flew overhead and into the late afternoon sunlight.  The photographs of Common Loons show something of their varied looks and plumages at this time of the year. They may be migrants on a stopover, or loons that nested in the area that are about to begin their migration south.
