The Seventh Annual STA 5-Clewiston (Florida) Count FLSO will be held from 7 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014.
For the uninitiated, Stormwater Treatment Area 5 (STA 5), an agricultural area located southwest of Lake Okeechobee, is one of South Florida's legendary birding locations. http://www.audubonswfl.org/STA5.htm
Birders of all skill levels and photographers are welcome. Participants will need to bring their lunch, snacks, and water. Port-o-lets are available at STA5.
The STA 5 team will meet at the STA 5 Deer Fence Trailhead gate at 7 a.m. Other teams will survey portions of circle at varying times.
The post count gathering will be held at 5:30 p.m. Coffee, tea and Soda will be provided.
Lodging is available at Big Cypress Reservation, Clewiston, LaBelle, and nearby campgrounds. Seven Florida Birding Trail sites are nearby.
