Michigan’s Camp Warbler for Adult Birders

Among the variety of birds to be emphasized during Camp Warbler is the rare Kirtland’s Warbler (photo by Paul Konrad).

Whether you're a lifelong birder or just starting out, you can register now for Camp Warbler, which will take place Monday June 1st thru Wednesday the 3rd at the MacMullan Conference Center near Roscommon in central Michigan. This 3-day and 2-night all-inclusive getaway includes lodging, 5 meals, and round-trip motor coach transportation from Belle Isle Park in Detroit. This getaway is perfect for individuals and couples interested in birding, wishing to enjoy some new areas of Michigan, and interested in meeting new friends in the process.

The MacMullan Conference Center offers a unique blend of rustic lodging and modern facilities on the north shore of Higgins Lake, with opportunities to enjoy birding in Michigan's north woods. Camp Warbler participants will also be treated to a variety of presentations and activities led by staff from Michigan State Parks and the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center, including:

  • An interpretive guided wildlife drive through Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge near Saginaw, with stops along the way for additional birding.
  • Birding in old growth forest at Hartwick Pines State Park in Grayling.
  • A visit to a Kirkland's Warbler nesting site on the edge of a young jack pine forest.
  • Special presentations on birding that will inspire experienced and beginning birders alike.
