The World Series of Birding has been one of the great birding events over a 4 decade period, fostering a spirit of competition while raising important conservation funds (Black-and-White Warbler photo by Paul Konrad).

Are you up for identifying birds any time between midnight and midnight Saturday May 14th? Then the World Series of Birding is for you – start a team or support a team as birders raise conservation dollars while trying to see and hear as many different species of birds in the state of New Jersey, with event festivities centered in historic Cape May, one of the premier birding locations along the Atlantic Coast. Organized by New Jersey Audubon, the World Series of Birding has been one of the great birding events in North America for 39 years.

Learn more about how you can participate by starting a team, or by making a donation to support bird conservation in New Jersey and along the Atlantic Flyway, refer to the World Series of Birding website at World Series of Birding | New Jersey Audubon (njaudubon.org) You can also search for your friend or family member’s team to donate, or pick one of the teams that catches your eye or whose donations will support a conservation group you prefer.

During the day, in northern New Jersey you can visit the Zeiss Checkpoint at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary for a snack and a look at Zeiss’s sports optics product line including their new models from 10am to 4pm.

If you end your day in southern New Jersey, more specifically Cape May, plan to attend the Finish Line event in the Crystal Room at the Grand Hotel, where teams and supporters gather for some hot food and even hotter stories of the day from 7pm to midnight. You can also attend the World Series of Birding awards brunch in the Grand Ballroom at the Grand Hotel in Cape May. See World Series of Birding | New Jersey Audubon (njaudubon.org)
