Birders from around the world enjoy the GBBC – join the fun!

It’s only a week away: The start of the annual Great Backyard Bird Count, which is scheduled for February 12 to 15 – over President’s Day weekend. If you’ve been participating regularly, you may already be gearing up for this year’s GBBC, and if you’d like to join the fun for the first time, that’s easy, and every birder should get involved – at your feeders or in the field – or both. This truly global event marks the 24th GBBC, which is co-sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Audubon, and Birds Canada.

You can get more information about the annual Great Backyard Bird Count and how you can participate this year at https://www.birdcount.org/ and learn how to participate at https://www.birdcount.org/participate/

The results of this annual 4-day event are most impressive; during last February’s 2020 Great Backyard Bird Count a total of 268,674 birders from 194 countries participated and counted more than 27 million birds including almost 7,000 different species worldwide! Every birder adds to the wealth of information collected each year, so join the fun as you participate in the GBBC 2021.
