The ABA Rare Bird Alert’s Weekly Highlights

A phenomenal new First North American Record was established when a Southern Lapwing was confirmed in eastern Michigan, which also created a First State Record (photo by Santiago Vazquez).

A phenomenal sighting of a Latin American species created a new First North American Record of a Southern Lapwing near the shore of Lake Huron in Oscoda, Michigan, which also created a First State Record! A First Territorial Record was established by documenting a Mississippi Kite in the Yukon, and birders found a Second State Record White-eyed Vireo on the Oregon coast. And always an exciting sighting, the long-lost Steller’s Sea Eagle was found again on June 29th near the northern tip of Newfoundland!
