The ABA Rare Bird Alert’s Weekly Highlights

Birders documented a young Glaucous-winged Gull on the shore of Lake Nockamixon in eastern Pennsylvania that created a new First State Record (photo by Ian Walker).

Attentive birders found a young Glaucous-winged Gull in Nockamixon State Park in Pennsylvania that established a First State Record. Texas birders continue to find exciting rare birds, including 2 Harlequin Ducks at Port Aransas, which established a Third State Record last week. Similarly, a Third State Record Varied Thrush was documented near Bartlesville, Oklahoma. And yes, the Steller’s Sea Eagle continues to be sighted periodically along the southeast coast of Maine, with other continuing rare birds being observed at other corners of the nation including the Bat Falcon, Whooper Swan, Little Stint, and Thick-billed Vireo.
