Michigan Bird Migration Forum

The Bird Migration Forum will be presented on the campus of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Tuesday May 9th (Chestnut-sided Warbler by Paul Konrad).

A Bird Migration Forum will be presented on the campus of Michigan Technological University in Houghton Tuesday May 9th as part of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ popular Wildlife Through Forestry series of special events. Its purpose is to bring awareness of the plight of migratory bird populations, provide instruction direct from researchers so that landowners and homeowners can take decisive action to enhance habitat on their property, and to provide a summary of bird migration and population numbers on the Keweenaw Peninsula.

The forum will feature 3 distinguished speakers: Dr. Jen Owen, Joseph Youngman and David Flaspohler; held from 6 to 9pm at 135 Fisher Hall at Michigan Tech. A panel of resource professionals will also discuss the development, preparation, and implementation of Forest Stewardship Plans. More than 150 professional foresters and 20 wildlife biologists develop Forest Stewardship Plans for forest landowners in Michigan.
