BBW Inspires Free Bird ID Courses

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is providing 2 Free instruction courses that help beginning birders understand basic concepts of identifying birds in the, including Color and Pattern.

Staff at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology has been inspired by all the people posting messages about Black Birders Week, so recognizing that some are just beginning their adventures in birding, the Lab is offering Free enrollment in 2 bird ID courses to anyone through the end of #BlackBirdersWeek, June 5. Anyone can now take the online courses titled: “Be a Better Birder 1: Size and Shape,” and “Be a Better Birder 2: Color and Pattern,” each a $29 value, but free through June 5th. Each online course features interactive lessons, videos, and quizzes that you can complete at your own pace. And the courses do not expire, so you can return to them as often as you wish.

The Cornell Lab would like to help everyone interested in birds and birding to learn the basics of identifying birds – so birding can be as fun, rewarding, and challenging as you want it to be.

To enroll in the classes by June 5:

1. Select one or both of the courses mentioned above from the Lab’s course catalog, at https://academy.allaboutbirds.org/course-list/?category=bird-identification&order=featured

2. Add the courses to the cart by clicking the “Enroll Now” button

3. Enter the coupon code – BlackBirdersWeek and click “Apply Coupon”

4. Click on “Proceed to Checkout” and your total will show $0.00

5. To check out, you will need a free Cornell Lab account; if you don’t already have one, you will be guided through the simple process.
