New eBird Distribution and Migration Focus

Follow animated maps that illustrate the annual migrations and distribution of Wilson’s Warblers – and more than 800 other species.

The eBird Science team built models depicting movements, distribution, and abundance patterns for an expanded set of bird species from the Americas, including 179 species with nesting ranges beyond the United States and Canada. The team utilized 6 million more eBird checklists from 3½ million more locations and refined cutting-edge statistical models and machine learning techniques to create exciting visualizations of distribution and abundance patterns throughout the year for 807 species of birds.

The remarkable visualizations brought to you by the eBird Science team with the help of more than 300,000 eBirders around the world offer a bird’s-eye view of avian movements. Birders could easily lose track of time while watching warblers, orioles, and flycatchers migrate across continents – it’s an experience like no other.
