Zeiss Introduces Harpia Spotting Scope

THORNWOOD, NY. September 29, 2017. With the ZEISS Harpia spotting scope, the world renowned German optics manufacturer is adding two new spotting scope models to its product portfolio for nature lovers. The ZEISS Harpia 22-65x85 and the ZEISS Harpia 23-70x95 are the first spotting scopes in this product category with a 3xwide-angle zoom. "Regardless of whether the observer is in the middle of the rainforest, on the plains or at the water's edge, the large wide-angle field of view, (our ComfortVision Concept,) makes it easier for them to quickly get their bearings in unfamiliar surroundings," explains Dr. Gerold Dobler, Product Specialist at ZEISS. Picking out and identifying birds with this spotting scope is easier and, most importantly, faster. "You will be impressed by the large field of view, whether you're counting birds or making detailed observations over a large stretch of terrain," says Dobler.

The large wide-angle zoom range – 22x to 65x magnification on the 85 model, and 23x to 70x magnification on the 95 model – ensures a clear image with excellent color fidelity, especially when viewing migrating or brooding birds. "The zoom changer behind the focus wheel will function reliably for years to come," says Dobler. The specially crafted eyepiece features a slim design, ensuring optimum comfort over long viewing periods.

Fast focusing with dual-speed mechanism

With a close focus distance of 14.7 feet on the 95 model and 11.5 feet on the 85 model, the ZEISS Harpia spotting scope is perfect for observing small birds and insects up close. The dual-speed focus mechanism facilitates quick, exact focusing, even at high magnification. "The ZEISS Harpia stands out due to its versatility, ensuring that you are ready for whatever unexpected viewing challenges await," says Dobler. Extensive digiscoping accessories further expand the wide range of applications. The ZEISS Victory Harpia will be available through the ZEISS authorized retailer network, starting in January 2018.
