Washington D.C. - The National Wildlife Refuge Association is very excited to announce Mike Bryant, former Refuge Manager of the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge Complex in North Carolina, as the new the North Carolina and South Carolina Representative.
Bryant has over 35 years of experience managing national wildlife refuges, 20 years, which were spent overseeing nine refuges in North Carolina. For Bryant, collaboration and increased public support to identify solutions that balance public use and sustainability, is essential for conservation success.
"We are thrilled to have Mike Bryant join our team at the Refuge Association as our newest Regional Representative. Mike will be a great asset as we continue our efforts in North Carolina to provide support and outreach regarding the many benefits that refuges in North Carolina provide to communities and the wildlife they serve," said Refuge Association President, Geoffrey Haskett.
The National Wildlife Refuge Association has been working in North Carolina for years, mobilizing Friends Groups and building public support for refuges. These nine refuges in North Carolina not only support migratory waterfowl, charismatic mammals, and endangered species, but also serve as important models for hydrologic restoration to minimize sea level rise, climate change, and costly wildfires.
