NWF Introduces Garden for Wildlife Gift Catalog

Reston, Va (October 23, 2015) - For birders, gardeners and wildlife enthusiasts of all kinds, the National Wildlife Federation has recently released a new, one of a kind online catalog with specific merchandise to create wildlife friendly gardens. The Garden for Wildlife Gift Guide provides consumers with everything needed to create thriving wildlife habitat in any backyard, garden or landscape.

The merchandise has been personally reviewed, tested and selected by National Wildlife Federation's naturalist David Mizejewski and expert on creating natural gardens for wildlife.

"Not all bird nesting boxes and other wildlife-oriented products are made equally," said Mizejewski. "What sets the products in this gift guide aside from all others is that they were thoroughly reviewed to ensure quality construction and to ensure the products actually help wildlife survive and reproduce."

An expert in the field of creating wildlife friendly gardens, Mizejewski is a contributing editor for Birds and Blooms magazines, a blogger and author of Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Backyard Wildlife. He's also hosted the Animal Planet series Backyard Habitat, a how-to makeover series that helped viewers re-envision their yards and gardens and wildlife habitats.

The items in the Garden for Wildlife Gift Guide are organized according to the four components of habitat: food, water, cover, and places to raise young. These are the four components necessary to achieve Certified Wildlife Habitat status through National Wildlife Federation's Garden for Wildlife program.

The catalog also includes other wildlife-garden themed merchandise designed to help observe the wildlife attracted to a yard, to decorate wildlife habitat, or simply to celebrate the idea of "backyard habitat."

"All proceeds from the Garden for Wildlife Gift Guide will be used to help National Wildlife Federation's efforts in conservation and education that protect wildlife and connect people to nature," said Mizejewksi. "So when you get a nesting box for birds, a bat house, a toad abode or a birdbath from the Garden for Wildlife Gift Guide, you'll help wildlife in your own neighborhood succeed as well as wildlife across the country."
