The ABA Rare Bird Alert’s Weekly Highlights

The First State Record Great Kiskadee was photographed near Frederick, Maryland last week.

The First State Record Great Kiskadee was photographed in Maryland; but the late report of a bird recorded on a trail camera last November 19 at the Google campus in Mountain View, California is the real stunner for the week – a Siberian Rubythroat represents both a First State Record and a First Lower 48 States Record for this Asian species. A Boreal Chickadee photographed at a backyard feeding station in Hiram, Ohio is said to be the first sighting of the species in 40 years. And always an exciting find, a young Ross’s Gull continues to be observed by many birders along the shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago.
