Backyard Birds Revealed is a 5-part video series that reveals details about familiar birds that visit feeders and landscaping near you. In each 5 minute episode, filmmakers Tim Laman and Russell Laman challenge themselves to get slow-motion and wide-angle videos, and narrate the details and discoveries uncovered in their interesting videos. See Tim and Russell set up their equipment to film chickadees, jays, woodpeckers, wrens, nuthatches, and more while you learn about some of the adaptations that birds use to survive and thrive in our yards and beyond.
As you watch you will gain a new appreciation of the birds in your own backyard. Familiar feeder birds like chickadees and titmice are fun to watch, but they move so fast it's hard to fully appreciate their impressive flying skills. In the first episode, Russ and Tim used a specialized camera capable of taking video at the high speed of 1,000 frames per second, which allowed them to slow the action to the show the series of intricate motions involved in the simple activity of a variety of birds landing at a feeder. Each of the videos has a specific theme, and Tim and Russell provide insightful narration that makes you feel like you are bundled up and standing next to them as the filming takes place in their Massachusetts backyard.
