Audubon Bird Photography Contest Opens

The premier North American bird photography and video contest is accepting entries now until March 9. Judges will award 8 prizes ranging from $5,000 to $1,000 to winning photographers for the Grand Prize, and categories including the Professional, Amateur, Plants for Birds, Fisher, Female Bird, and Video categories, along with a special Youth category prize. Winning photos will be featured in a future issue of Audubon magazine, and showcased in a virtual Audubon Photography Awards exhibit. For the second year, Audubon will award the Video Prize and the Female Bird Prize. The Video Prize will again be awarded to the top video of a bird or birds that demonstrates unique bird behaviors or that highlights a wild birds in natural habitat. The Female Bird Prize continues to showcase the attractiveness of female birds.

Prizes are substantial, including a Grand Prize of $5,000, along with $2,500 prizes for the winners of the Professional, Amateur, Plants for Birds, and Video categories. There are also $1,000 prizes for the winners of the Female Bird and Fisher categories, as well as an exciting Youth Prize: 6 days at Audubon’s Hog Island Audubon Camp for Teens.

This exciting bird photo contest is open to all residents of the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec), who are 13 years of age or older by the date of their submission. Of course, Audubon encourages ethical bird photography and videography at all times. Entry fees are $15 per photo or video, although no payments are required for submissions to the Youth, Plants for Birds, or Video categories for entrants aged 13 to 17.
