Association of Field Ornithologists Meeting

Participants at the AFO and WBBA Annual Meeting in Utah will have a chance to find interesting western bird species, perhaps including a Lazuli Bunting (photo by Paul Konrad).

For the 103rd year, the Association of Field Ornithologists will hold their Annual Meeting, this year in Ogden, Utah, July 29 to August 1. The Association of Field Ornithologists (AFO) is one of the world’s major societies of professional and avocational ornithologists dedicated to the scientific study and dissemination of information about birds in their natural habitats. This year the Western Bird Banding Association (WBBA) is joining the AFO meeting to highlight the importance of bird banding in concert with broader bird research methods.

In addition to the structured meetings, there will be a variety of field trips and local birding opportunities in addition to the presentation of awards and grants. For more information about the AFO and WBBA meeting, refer to AFO 2025 – Association of Field Ornithologists (afonet.org)

The AFO publishes the internationally recognized publication, Journal of Field Ornithology, (see Home - Journal of Field Ornithology (afonet.org) that has a history of 100 years of continuous science-based publications about birds by people who study them. The AFO also owns Avinet Research Supplies that produces and sells high-quality avian research supplies; see Avinet Research Supplies | Research Gear for the Field Biologist).
