Last week I shared a selection of photographs I took this fall with a number of friends via email, which I enjoy doing periodically. But it was especially interesting, and a bit perplexing, when I received a return note from my friend Kristine, who was in the Monterey Bay area of California at the time. For some mysterious and unexplained reason, the last photograph in my email was returned with Kristine’s email, which she sent from her iPhone. The surprising thing about it was that the photo had been changed – somehow, someway – it was clearly not the same photo I sent.

The photo of the 2 Blue Jays facing off at my feeder was altered, with 1 jay duplicated in miniature and added to a position beside and behind the original jay with its wings raised – just the bird, impressively duplicated in miniature. I checked with Kristine about how this surprising edit may have happened, but she was just as surprised as I was – hmm. That said, it’s quite an interesting photo edit, so much so that I wanted to share the image and the mystery with you as an extension of the above photo series of Blue Jays. Enjoy your week, Paul
