Port Aransas, Tex. Celebrates 20th Anniversary Whooping Crane Festival

The Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce/Tourist Bureau showcases its rare and famous winter neighbors, the Whooping Cranes, at the 20th Anniversary Whooping Crane Festival on February 25-28, 2016.

The festival is open to avid and amateur birders, photographers, families, and anyone who loves the outdoors and nature-related activities. Festival events take place in Port Aransas, "America's Birdiest Small Coastal City".

Festival attendees will have the opportunity to take guided boat tours to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge to view the only naturally occurring, wild population of Whooping Cranes in the world. Standing five feet tall, the cranes are the tallest birds in North America.

The four-day festival attracts hundreds of birding enthusiasts each year and features world-renowned speakers, birding experts, and guided field trips. Exhibits, a free nature-related trade show, and interactive workshops and seminars are ongoing throughout the festival.
