'59 Illustrated National Parks' Celebrates NPS 100th Anniversary

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 1, 2015) – Anderson Design Group is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the United States National Park Service in 2016 with the release of their 59 Illustrated National Parks, Celebrating 100 Years of Wilderness and Wonder coffee table book. Written by Joel Anderson and his son, Nathan Anderson, the book features original poster illustrations, photography, facts and stories about our great American wilderness parks and the people who protect and preserve them.

The United States has 59 protected areas known as national parks, which are operated by the National Park Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior. The Organic Act of 1916 created the National Park Service "to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and wildlife therein, and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations." Twenty-seven states have national parks, as do the territories of American Samoa and the United States Virgin Islands. California has the most (nine), followed by Alaska (eight), Utah (five), and Colorado (four).

59 Illustrated National Parks includes 71 full color posters from the Anderson Design Group's award winning Art & Soul Collection, including 12 original oil paintings of national parks by Kai Carpenter. The book also includes beautiful wildlife and scenic photos of each park, along with stats, travel tips, an illustrated map of the United States showing where each park is located, an historic overview of the National Park Service, and historic facts about all 59 wilderness parks in the National Park System.

"Anderson Design Group has been working for 5 years to create a complete collection of prints that features all 59 national parks. We have produced an award-winning series of poster art rendered in the tradition of the classic WPA (Work Projects Administration) prints from the 1920s and 1930s," said Joel Anderson. "This book is a tour of our national parks as seen through the eyes of poster artists. Our art is an invitation to experience the adventure, awe and splendor of these parks. Hopefully it will inspire everyone to visit our nation's national parks."

Designed in Nashville and printed in the USA, the new hardcover and softcover 100th Anniversary edition of the 59 Illustrated National Parks is available online at andersondesigngroupstore.com, or at the Anderson Design Group's Studio Store, 116 29th Ave., North in Nashville.
