First-Ever World Digiscopers Meeting in Titusville, Fla. Jan. 20 - 24

On January 20 - 24, 2015, the World Digiscopers Meeting will be hosting a unique collection of some of the best digiscopers in the world. Hosted by the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival (SCBWF), the largest birding festival in North America, and sponsored by SWAROVSKI OPTIK NORTH AMERICA, the World Digiscopers Meeting will be the first-ever opportunity for digiscopers to meet the personalities behind the great photos they have been seeing online for more than a decade. Some digiscopers expected to attend include Neil Fifer (Hong Kong), Tara Tanaka (Florida), Danny Porter (UK), Jörg Kretschzmar (Ger), Justin Carr (UK) Gudrun Kaufmann (AT) Dale Forbes (AT), Kevin Bolton (New Jersey), Robert Wilson (Florida), Sharon Stiteler (Minnesota), and Clay Taylor (Texas). Registration for the World Digiscopers Meeting can be completed through the SCBWF website. The registration fee includes two events with food and drink, access to all digiscoping activities and programs, plus admittance to select other SCBWF programs and events.

The World Digiscopers Meeting is going to offer many exciting events for digiscopers of all levels to participate in. A Meet and Greet will be held on Tuesday, January 20th where festival participants can get to know more about the attending expert panel of digiscopers. The highlight of the World Digiscopers Meeting will be a Digiscoping Team competition on Wednesday, January 21st, in which teams of 2 digiscopers will compete to capture the best digiscoping images in a variety of categories. The general public and festival participants can join in the choosing of the winning images at a luncheon event on the following day, January 22nd, which will include stories and tips from the photographers.

On Friday, January 23rd, many of these top-notch digiscopers will be set up at the Blue Heron Wetlands for the public to visit, in addition to field trips that SCBWF will host for festival participants. These digiscopers will give tips on equipment choices and provide their knowledge of digiscoping in the field, including smart phone digiscoping and video digiscoping. The final day, Saturday, January 24th, will feature more indoor digiscoping programs at the festival including lectures and programs from our international team of expert digiscopers. It will be a day of great opportunity for people from around the globe to get involved and digiscope together. Plus, Saturday will also feature an exciting field event - the World Digiscoping Blitz.
