Angel Fire Bike Park Expanding Green Trails

ANGEL FIRE, NM – Awarded #1 Bike Park in the Southwest by MTBParks.com, Angel Fire Bike Park (www.angelfirebikepark.com)the largest Bike Park in the Rockies, will open 100% of their mountain trails on opening day for the first time in the Park’s history. Starting May 18, 2018, over 60 miles of trails in the Park and over 40 miles in the surrounding village of Angel Fire will be open for the summer season. Additionally, bike park organizers are inviting all riders for the only summer bike demo in the Southwest over Memorial Day Weekend.

“Our vendors are bringing the bikes you’ve always wanted to shred or pedal on some of the best bike trails in the Southwest. If you’ve been thinking about buying a new downhill or cross-country bike but want to try it out before you commit to buying one, Angel Fire Bike Park Demo Daze is a perfect weekend to check out the best gear,” states Patrick West, bike park manager, Angel Fire Resort.

Demo Daze will take place May 26-27, 2018 with bikes and gear from top vendors from all over the country, including industry giants like Foxhead, YT, Evil Bikes, and Commencal. Vendors will also offer tips and suggestions on appropriate equipment for those new to the sport.
The two-day event is for any riders, from novice to expert, who are interested in test-riding the latest bikes and gear on DH, XC, Enduro, or a mix of mountain bike terrain.

“While some mountains charge riders entrance fees, what’s great about this demo is our riders can come up and try out the gear all day long for the cost of a bike park lift ticket. The lift ticket will also include access to tastings at the Santa Fe Brewing beer tent and entrance to the movie premiere that night of Gamble: A Mountain Bike Film,” adds West.

Memorial Day Weekend will also be the first of five Fire 5 Downhill races this season. Presented by Schwalbe, the race series puts $20,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. New this season will be the Lil’ Shredders category, for the kids 12 and under. Also new for the series this year lift tickets for racers will be half price on both Saturday and Sunday of race weekend, allowing all racers to ride for both days for only $50.

Additionally, this season, Angel Fire Bike Park is redesigning several of its green trails, including “Easy Street,” to create more relaxed riding for kids as young as 6. The park has also added a fleet of Specialized Turbo Levo E-Bikes, which offers riders a full suspension mountain bike with electric power that provides riders with pedaling assistance. Unlike other bike parks, E-Bikes are allowed on all mountain and cross-country village trails since the land is all privately owned.

“We’re known as the most family-friendly resort in the southwest, so we want to make sure we’re offering the best in mountain biking for the very young,” RuthWorden, marketing manager, Angel Fire Resort, explains. “Along with easier and expanded XC trail riding throughout the village of Angel Fire, we’re also making sure that beginners have a fun selection of downhill trails they can safely learn the sport on.”
