The Birding Wire's good friend, Molly Molloy, a member of the Mesilla Valley Audubon Society in Las Cruces, NM, shared several photos of these animated "Singing Sandhills," taken at New Mexico's Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge as the sun was setting Saturday, Nov. 18—during the refuge's popular 2017 Festival of the Cranes Week. "I'll bet there was a million dollars worth of professional photography equipment on that (irrigation) ditch today," Molly wrote. "And lenses that were bigger than me!" Many thanks to her for sharing—we could almost hear the cranes. Technical: Nikon CoolPix P900, ISO 280, f/5.6, 1/500 sec.
