'Cat Wars' Author to Appear at New Mexico Venues in April

Dr. Peter Marra, coauthor of Cat Wars: Consequences of a Cuddly Killer, will discuss the environmental consequences of free-ranging cats at two events in New Mexico, April 6-7.

PMarra is the Director of the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. He earned a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 1998 and an M.S. from Louisiana State University in 1989. Pete's research focuses on understanding how factors such as climate, habitat, food, disease and invasive species (such as cats) control population size of birds. Communicating his excitement for the conservation of wildlife to the public through multiple means is a high priority. Pete has published over 180 peer reviewed papers and two books. His papers have appeared in Science, Nature, PNAS, Proceedings of the Royal Society, Conservation Biology, and Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. Pete is co-founder of Tree House Concerts, an avid fly fisherman, passionate cook and father of two.
