Colorado Owl Festival Oct. 7-8

Join the Nature & Raptor Center of Pueblo, Mountain Park Environmental Center, Pueblo City-County Library District, Pueblo Zoo, Arkansas Valley Audubon Society, and Lake Pueblo State Park for a weekend of all things owl. Highlights of the weekend include live owl demonstrations, owl prowl hikes, owl pellet dissection, owl crafts, an owl hooting competition, owl conservation information, and presentations by owl experts.

Dates: Friday, October 7 & Saturday, October 8

Where: Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo, Pueblo West Library, Pueblo Mountain Park

Cost: $4 Adults; $1 children ages 3-10; children 2 and under are free

Live Owl Presentation at the Pueblo West Library is FREE.

Workshops may have additional fees.

Coloring Contest: During the month of September we will be holding an owl coloring contest for children and adults. Child winners in different age categories will win an owl presentation for their classroom, while runners-up receive classroom raptor adoptions. Adult first place prize will be a raptor release, and runner-up will receive a free individual membership for a year. One entry per person, please. Adult entries will each have a $5 entry fee which will benefit the owls and other birds of prey at the Raptor Center. Look for the owl coloring sheets on the NRCP website (www.natureandraptor.org). All entries are due by 3:00 pm on Friday, September 30th.

Friday, October 7th
1:00 – 2:00 pm Live Owl Presentation at Pueblo West Library
4:00 – 5:30 pm Open House at the Raptor Center – meet our resident owls and enjoy refreshments
Light snacks will be provided at the Raptor Center Open House. Feel free to bring a brown bag dinner with you to the events at the Mountain Park.
5:30 pm Bus to Mountain Park departs. Please pre-register before Oct. 7 at 10:00am@https://hikeandlearn.secure.retreat.guru/program/owl-fest-bus-registration-oct-7th/. Those who wish to drive themselves may follow the bus to the Pueblo Mountain Park.
6:30 – 7:30 pm Mexican Spotted Owls – presented by Richard Roth – Horseshoe Lodge at Mountain Park Environmental Center, Beulah
7:30 – 9:00 pm Owl Prowl Hike – Mountain Park, Beulah – Enjoy a night hike along the trails, listening for sounds of owls and other wildlife.
