New Book Engages Children in Backyard Birding

Have you ever looked out of your window and been completely captivated by a bird in your tree or feeder? Do you wonder where it comes from or what kind of bird it is? Debut author Kermit Cummings answers all these questions in his children's book A Backyard Birding Adventure: What's in Your Yard?

This vibrant and engaging book has gained a lot of attention from bird lovers and newcomers alike as well as from the popular nature shop Wild Birds Unlimited.

One reader said, "The birds in the book can be seen in everyday life. It encouraged me to create backyard adventures of our own with my son."

Cummings has taken it a step further; he's developed an app that interacts with the book and allows you to hear the birds pictured in his book. If the reader has access to the app store or Google Play, now they have access to the wondrous songs of their favorite winged friends.
