Zeiss Continues as Lead Sponsor of World Series of Birding

NORTH CHESTERFIELD, VA., April 20th, 2015 – Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, the world's leading manufacturer in high performance sports optics, once again takes great pleasure in its continued sponsorship of New Jersey Audubon's World Series of Birding.

Carl Zeiss will once again sponsor the ZEISS Youth Birding Competition. The youth birding teams are comprised of three divisions (Div A Gr. 1-5; Div B Gr. 6-8; Div C Gr. 9-12) of mixed ages, grades, schools, or groups who participate within their division. New Jersey Audubon education staff works with these groups to make the event an educational experience as well as a fund raiser for school, youth, or scout groups conservation projects.

ZEISS is also pleased to continue the Pete Dunne - Carl Zeiss Future Leaders in Birding Award, introduced in 2008 and provided to the winning Division C Youth Team. The award passes to next year's winning team after this year's competition, and so on perpetually. The award is to both honor the founder and the future of the event.

Pete Dunne will again lead TEAM ZEISS in the Adult Division competition. One of birding's most familiar figures, Pete is best known for his many books on birds and bird watching. He is NJ Audubon's Ambassador for Birding and founder of the World Series of Birding, in which he has served as the Captain of the Zeiss Birding Team since 1985. Other team captains include NJA Board Members Mark Levy, Karen Thompson and Bill Boyle, author of Birds of New Jersey.

Start planning now and we will see you at the finish line in Cape May!
