Owl Program at Indiana Dunes State Park

Indiana Dunes State Park will celebrate the wonder of owls during a special program with live birds on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The program, called "Night Hunters," is at the nature center at 1 p.m. CST. An assortment of owls will be on hand. The program will feature educational birds from the Lake Milton Raptor Center and will introduce owl species and their adaptations for nocturnal survival.

"The program comes on the heels of another successful season of saw-whet owl banding at Indiana Dunes State Park," said Brad Bumgardner, park interpretive naturalist. "If you missed seeing us band an owl this past season, here's your chance to see several up close."

The program is free after paying the standard park entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle or $10 per out-of-state vehicle.

Program support comes from the Northwest Indiana Migratory Bird Association.
