Madison Audubon Communications and Outreach Coordinator

Madison Audubon Society (MAS) is looking for a motivated, creative and enthusiastic person to join our strong team that is dedicated to bird conservation, advocacy, and education. The Communication and Outreach Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and works with staff colleagues, various Madison Audubon committees, and the public to advance the mission of MAS. General Position Duties:

  • Manages the Madison Audubon Society website

  • Assists Executive Director with newsletter and annual report

  • Manages other social media

  • Coordinates record-keeping, archives, objectives and goals for achieving national

  • accreditation

  • Coordinates volunteer outreach

  • Assists Executive Director on selected youth outreach efforts

  • Assists Executive Director on selected asset development projects

  • Maintains regional media list

  • Assists Executive Director on event planning

  • Serves as liaison for MAS programs

  • The Preferred Candidate Will:

  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for interacting with members, board, staff, and the general public

  • Display commitment to local conservation and environmental education

  • Be skilled in use of social media including website content and Facebook

  • Be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail

  • Enjoy working with diverse groups of people

  • Be resourceful, creative and have strong problem-solving abilities

  • Exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and have a positive attitude

  • Be adaptable and willing to learn and apply new skills

  • Have prior experience in coordination of events

  • Enjoy working in and contributing to a fun, professional work environment
