Service Learning Opportunity for Seabird Conservation on the Maine Coast

As part of Hog Island Audubon's summer camps and programs, work alongside Audubon biologists to restore Maine seabirds and their habitats (June 1-6) in scenic and wild Muscongus Bay.

You'll have the chance to count nesting Great Black-backed and Herring Gulls and Eider Ducks as part of an ongoing seabird census on offshore island sanctuaries, as well as help to restore tern nesting habitat through the removal of invasive vegetation and marine debris.

Evening sessions will focus on exciting and provocative seabird biology and conservation topics. Have fun and make a difference for wildlife this summer! Instructors include Dr. Stephen Kress (Audubon), Dr. Kevin McGowan (Cornell), and Dr. Jerry Skinner (Keystone).

This popular program is presented in association with Road Scholar (Elderhostel, Inc.) and is open to adults 21+ years old. Participants should be able to disembark onto small landing boats and walk easily over uneven terrain.
