Friend and associate Molly Molloy, a member of the Mesilla Valley Audubon Society (http://www.new-mexico-birds.com
), shared this week's featured photograph of a Black-crowned night heron taken at an irrigation canal near her home in Las Cruces, NM Aug. 6. She writes: "I saw the Black-crowned night heron on a walk Friday night, but I didn't have my camera. Went back Sunday and he was in exactly the same spot. He's a really beautiful bird. I've never seen a BCNH on this stretch of irrigation canal before. Perhaps he will keep coming? I'll go back again tonight to see if he's there again." Tech info: Nikon Coolpix P900, f/6.3, 1/100 sec., 268mm, ISO 800.
